On November 3 and 4, 2026, the house band from Chiang Mai's Moment’s Notice Jazz Club comes to Sappho Live Jazz in Taipei. Tuesday begins with a joint performance with Taipei musicians, followed by an open jam; Wednesday gives the visiting band a full featured show before the jam begins. Doors open at 20:00 and music starts at 21:00 on both nights, with a NT$200 music charge plus a one-drink minimum. All times in this article are Taipei local time. Getting to know a city's music need not mean following only major festivals; this exchange between two jazz bars offers a reason to set aside an evening. More than a visiting band with a city attached to its name

Moment’s Notice Jazz Band is the house band of the Chiang Mai jazz club of the same name, led by bassist Warin Thatan (Tao). Sappho's announced five-piece lineup also includes vocalist Pacharapone Nilprayoon, guitarist Nattakit Srithongsuk, saxophonist Kantapon Sukcharoen and drummer Chatchawan Prommitikul. The venue describes their approach to jazz standards and popular songs through new arrangements, harmony and improvisation. That describes the musical direction of the visit, not a published fixed set list. Sappho band introduction

The house-band connection is more revealing than simply calling this “a Thai jazz band visiting Taiwan.” In a 2020 interview, Citylife writer Will Langston recorded that Tao returned to Chiang Mai after graduate school and opened Moment’s Notice in December 2018. The same report also mentioned Pacharapone Nilprayoon performing locally. These details point to musicians' long-term connections with a city, rather than tourist background added for a visiting show. Citylife, September 9, 2020

A jazz scene connects the city's small venues

Moment’s Notice has also taken part in music events linking venues across Chiang Mai. An organizer listing preserved by International Jazz Day for 2022 describes Chiangmai Street Jazz as connecting five jazz bars and three cultural music networks, including Moment’s Notice. This historical record shows a city network sustained by musicians and venues, beyond a single place to drink and hear music. International Jazz Day: Chiang Mai's 2022 event record

On the Taipei side, Sappho's own introduction puts live performance at the center and food and drink in a supporting role, with regular musicians and an open stage forming its everyday program. Inviting another club's house band makes the exchange more than a visiting act performing for an audience: the announcement specifically includes a joint performance and open jams. That program is why we include this event among weekday nightlife options. Rather than choosing by the biggest name, you can start with an interest in how a band developed within one music club steps into another city. There is no need to assign Taipei or Chiang Mai a particular sound in advance. The encounter already on the program is the reason to look forward to it, without claiming a musical chemistry that has yet to happen.

Tuesday brings the two bands together; Wednesday gives Chiang Mai a full set

If you can choose only one evening, the programs are not identical. Sappho's exchange announcement lists:

- Tuesday, November 3: Sappho House Band and Moment’s Notice Jazz Band perform together at 21:00, followed by an Open Jam Session at 21:45.

- Wednesday, November 4: Moment’s Notice Jazz Band plays its Featured Set / Full Show at 21:00; the Open Jam Session begins at 22:45.

Choose Tuesday if you want to focus on the musicians performing together and an earlier jam. Wednesday better suits those who want a full introduction to the visiting band before staying for the exchange. This comparison is based on the announced program; it does not imply unannounced songs, surprise guests or stylistic differences between the evenings. Sappho official exchange announcement
