Late-night reading at eslite spectrum Songyan: bookstore and café hours

Choose your arrival time around what you want to do, and distinguish the 24-hour bookstore from the mall and café services.

For an evening bookstore visit in Taipei, consider the third-floor bookstore and music section at eslite spectrum Songyan. Its 24-hour opening does not extend to the entire mall. If you also want stationery, the children's section or coffee, arrival time matters: finish the parts with closing times first, then leave reading until later. eslite Songyan service information

Decide what you want from the evening, then choose when to arrive

Arriving at Songyan at 20:30 and arriving at 00:30 make for two different outings. The earlier visit can combine shopping, food and books; after midnight, it makes more sense to focus on books and music rather than expect the full range of mall services.

According to eslite's current announcement, the mall, second-floor stationery section and third-floor children's section close at 22:00. The third-floor bookstore and music section operate 24 hours, while the third-floor eslite café closes at midnight. Opening hours by section

Plan around your purpose:

For stationery and books in one visit, shop for stationery first. Avoid losing yourself in the shelves and remembering the other floor only after it closes.

To sit down for something to eat with friends, check the café's last-order times and minimum spend first. Its hours are not the same as the bookstore's.

If you simply want an evening of browsing books, there is no need to arrive early just to see the whole building. Choose a subject you want to explore to give the visit some focus.

The useful flexibility here is being able to finish a chapter without watching the bookstore's closing time, rather than expecting every service to run all night.

For a late meal, check last orders rather than closing time

A café that closes at midnight does not necessarily serve its full menu until then. The store announcement lists last orders at eslite café as 23:00 for hot food and 23:30 for drinks. If you have not had dinner, eat first and browse afterward rather than spend all your time choosing books. Last-order announcement

The eslite hotel dining page also states that, from October 1, 2025, the minimum spend is NT$190 per person on weekdays and NT$300 on weekends and public holidays. Children aged six and under are exempt, and reservations are not offered. Budget for the day you plan to visit; arriving as a group does not guarantee seats together. Official eslite café information

If what you really need is a desk for a long work session, check the on-site rules before leaving. An open bookstore, a café in service and an available workspace are three different things. Do not base an entire night of laptop work on the words “24 hours.”

The bookstore is in Xinyi District: do not navigate by “Songshan” alone

eslite spectrum Songyan is at No. 88, Yanchang Road, Xinyi District, Taipei; the bookstore is on the third floor. Official walking references are about 400 meters from Taipei City Hall Station Exit 1, or about 500 meters from Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Station Exit 5. Address and access

When meeting friends, name the store, floor and meeting point rather than just saying “see you at Songyan.” Starting to look for one another after reaching the park can easily confuse routes to exhibitions, restaurants and the bookstore.

Songshan Cultural and Creative Park separately lists its outdoor areas as open 24 hours. Indoor areas have their own access conditions and opening times. Being able to enter the park does not mean every gallery, shop or exhibition is still open. Songshan Cultural and Creative Park visitor information

Late-night reading does not have to mean staying up all night

If you need to be up early the next day, make the goal “choose one book” rather than “stay until dawn.” Before leaving, think of a subject for the evening, such as a novel, a city or an author. Decide whether to stay longer once you find something that interests you.

With friends, you could agree to browse separately and meet again at the end instead of staying together throughout. This is an editorial suggestion, not a special service offered by the store. People read at different paces; a little room to choose individually often suits a bookstore visit better than a packed itinerary.

If you plan to stay late, work out how you will get home first. Bookstore hours and transport operating hours are not the same. Check the store's latest announcements for holiday or temporary changes.

Frequently asked questions

Is the whole eslite Songyan building open 24 hours?

No. The 24-hour areas are the third-floor bookstore and music section. For other floors, stationery or the children's section, follow the relevant posted hours rather than assuming the bookstore's schedule applies throughout.

Can I order food at eslite café after midnight?

According to the current announcement, the café closes at midnight, with earlier last orders for hot food and drinks. If you want a late meal, arrive before the order deadline and allow time for waiting and eating.

Can I reserve a café table?

The official dining page currently states that reservations are not available. If someone in your group needs a seat or has specific requirements, contact the store before leaving to ask what it can arrange that day. Arrival does not guarantee seating.
